Render Unto Caesar

In this controversial scripture from the New Testament the Lord answers a tricky question posed by the Pharisees in the Temple courtyard in Jerusalem.

The question of course was a trap:

“Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not regard the person of men. Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”  A question designed as a trap between a rock and a hard place: die at the hands of the Romans or die by stoning at the hands of the Jews.

Jesus answered by asking another question: “Why do you test Me, you hypocrites? Show Me the tax money.” So they brought Him a silver denarius.

And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” They said to Him, “Caesar’s.”

And He said, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” When they had heard these words, they marveled, and left Him and went their way.” (Matthew 22:16-22, Mark 12:13-17, Luke 20:20-26)

Sources Of Money

There is a truth in this encounter that I am going to apply to the current US election scandal.  Under the Roman emperors, state coinage carried a portrait of the emperor, identified by his likeness. This began with the first emperor Augustus (27 BC – 14 AD).  At the time of this event, Tiberius was emperor (14 AD – 37 AD).

An emperor’s portrait on all coinage issued by him identified each coin as the emperor’s property (it is likely the denarius shown to Jesus was an Augustan coin, as very few Tiberian coins have been found in the Holy Land).

Now, let’s have a think about this.  Jesus’ answer hinges on the ability, throughout the Roman empire, to identify the source of all coinage without question. That identification established a coin’s value and authenticity.

Other coins in circulation in the Holy Land were:

• Silver shekels minted in Tyre, carrying the city insignia – the only acceptable tender for paying annual taxes to the Temple in Jerusalem.  Often had Melqart (Baal) on one side and Tyrian Eagle on the other. Surprising the Temple accepted coins with heathen god Baal depicted; but then, money is money…
• Small bronze lepton or prutah of the Hasmonean kings of Judaea struck sometime between 135 BC and 37 BC.  These bore royal inscriptions and insignia.  The widow’s mite;
• Coins minted in bronze by Pontius Pilate – limited to two easily identifiable, standardized designs issued over the period 29 AD – 31 AD.

The great advantage of coinage of all kinds was ready identification, establishing immediately the source and value of the tendered coin.

Things have changed.  In our ‘advanced’ era, with digital money transfers, it can be quite difficult to trace the source of money.  In fact, it’s not something we routinely think of.  Very different from having coins or paper money passing through our hands.

But hold on: it would be very relevant indeed to know how the elaborate voting systems now in question in the US election fraud scandal were funded – those illegal setups for the taking and counting of votes in the swing states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia and Wisconsin.  Would it not?

Unconstitutional Voting Interference

A lawsuit has just been filed against the lawmakers in these 5 states, supported by evidence of unconstitutional voting practices showing $400 Million donated by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to increase votes in Democratic Strongholds (with instructions, apparently).

This is as much as the $400 Million that the Federal Government allocated in March 2020 to help all states conduct elections during the Covid-19 pandemic – and the injection of this illegal funding and its source would have gone unnoticed had the Amistad Project not put in the necessary research to uncover this information.

I urge you to watch the below interview with Phill Kline, former attorney general of Kansas and director of the Amistad Project of the Thomas More Society. There is so much information here that I can only ask you to watch this for yourself – and prepare to be shocked, horrified, and disgusted.

What Zuckerberg and others have done is a crime against the nation at the very least.  What were they thinking?  It doesn’t take too much imagination to work that one out.  Let their chickens come home to roost.

Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s.
