I Will Pour Out My Spirit…

joel-2-28r-iicon“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions…”

So spoke the prophet Joel at Joel 2:28.

This outpouring of the spirit, currently very much in focus as part of the End Times prophecy, is regarded as part of ‘The Day of the Lord’…

…and the Day of the Lord and His subsequent millennium reign on earth is also described in a beautiful passage from Isaiah:

“…Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.

“Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.

“And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.”   (Isaiah 32:15-17)

Imagine the opportunity to pursue the things you love without limitation, in the company of the mighty creative power of the universe.     What more could anyone want?

Prayer For Help

deliverance-iconWho among us has not been in this situation?

Who has not felt themselves dwelling among the tents of the wicked?  In a strange land?  Surrounded by enmity to which there is seemingly no response?

David the mighty king and quintessential warrior knew this so well.  And while his fame lay in his mastery of the slingshot and the sword, he knew the most effective weapons, and in fact the only truly effective weapons, are spiritual:

“I call on the Lord in my distress,
and He answers me.
Save me, Lord,
from lying lips
and from deceitful tongues.
What will he do to you,
and what more besides,
you deceitful tongue?
He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows,
with burning coals of the broom bush.
Woe to me that I dwell in Meshek,
that I live among the tents of Kedar!
Too long have I lived
among those who hate peace.
I am for peace;
but when I speak, they are for war.”

Psalm 120.

Meshek –  a son of Japheth, the people descended from him, and their land (Russia – Scythia).
Kedar – a son of Ishmael, the people descended from him, and their land (Arabian Desert).

Leave vengeance to the Lord.  It is His prerogative, not yours.  If you are truly walking with Him, He will take care of you and your reputation.

Sometimes the hardest thing of all is to say with Paul, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord. (Romans 12:19)    This is not an empty phrase, and it helps to remember that the desire for revenge is one of satan’s favorite mind controls.  With it, he keeps people on endless treadmills of bitterness and retaliation.

Identity Crisis

i-am-iconThis piece was given to me by a friend, who wanted an illustration for it.

After I did that, he decided he didn’t want it after all.

Which was a bit sad.

Ah well, guess I knew it would come into its own somewhere…  And I am grateful for the verse.

While praying one day a woman asked “Who are You, Lord?

And He replied “I AM”

“But who is I AM?”

And He replied, “I am Love, I am Peace, I am Grace, I am Joy, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, I am the Comforter, I am Strength, I am Safety, I am Shelter, I am Power, I am The Creator, I am the Beginning and the End.

I am the Most High.”

The girl with tears in her eyes looked towards Heaven  and said, “Now I understand, Lord, But who am I?”

Then God tenderly wiped away the tears from her eyes and whispered,

“YOU ARE MINE.”

“Not By Might”

not-by-might-icon“Not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit” saith the Lord of Hosts.  Zechariah 4:6.

The world has continually failed to take this message on board.  No power or empire that has thought it could conquer and dominate by its own might and power has ever survived.

This is an eternal truth, and unfortunately it will continue to be proved true as long as we think that fighting, wars, terrorism and oppression are the way to gain what we want.

not-by-mightr

This was the message that Jesus of Nazareth brought to the world – and the world was not ready to receive it.

Will we ever be ready to receive it?
